I have just had one of the weirdest moment I've had for a long time. At some time yesterday the picture of the mask and chairs (perhaps the whole picture but I only vividly recall the mask and chairs) has appeared on my laptop or phone but in what context I have absolutely no idea. Anyway I have just listened to the song (which I knew of course) and given the grey, miserable rainy day here it did make me feel good.
Graham, my guess is that I'm probably not alone in having this song pop to mind lately! (in connection with the current weather situation in most of Europe). At least now you know that those images belong to an old Paul Simon album!
Northsider, the blue is indeed beautiful, but in a heatwave also a bit threatening! I was quite relieved to see a few more clouds appear later on. (No rain, just a bit of relief from the heat of the sun.)
Ginny, I had not heard of that, looked it up after reading your comment. Seems it's "only" one ear? but still indeed a tragedy for a great musician... He's been at the top of my own list of favourites ever since my early teens...
Looks like I am the only one who didn't know the song at all... Anyway, I agree with Monica, in a heat wave and when there is serious concern about groundwater levels (which there has been in my area for years), as beautiful as the azure sky is, grey clouds heavy with rain would be welcome for a change... ...and we had some last night and this morning, hooray!!
Beautiful blue! You sent me on a side trip to Paul Simon's 'Was a Sunny Day.' Most enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteJanice, it's a song that often comes to mind for me when I see a sky like this :)

DeleteGlorious photos. The blue is beautiful.

DeleteLove Paul Simon. So sad about his growing deafness. What an intense blue your sky is!

DeleteI love the blue of skies like that - and that cheeky cloud too!
ReplyDeleteJenny, beautiful colour, but I welcomed the clouds later in the afternoon...
DeleteIncredible blue in the sky
ReplyDeleteGlorious blue sky and then the fluffy white cloud appeared for a visit.

Meike, you were very young when that song was a hit ... The album is from 1973!
DeleteThat's not a cloud, it's a massive ball of cotton wool - probably dropped from a passing aeroplane.
