For a while today, looking out, I could almost imagine myself living by a lake. It isn't a lake though. It's a football field with snow melting away, and the water having nowhere to go because the ground is still frozen...
To look on the bright side, temperatures are now expected to continue keeping above freezing point all weekend. So fingers crossed I'll be able to get myself into town on Monday (for my ID appointment).
So far, it's been a Staying In week for me. And I can't say I've been very productive indoors either. Today I had the laundry room booked, though - so at least got that done.
Every where looks a bit unkempt and dirty when snow thaws, doesn't it? Warmer weather is on the way - and hopefully drier too!
ReplyDeleteJenny, yes, even when I do manage to get out for a short while, the period between the last remnants of winter and the first real signs of spring is not one that tempts me to frequently stop and pick up the camera...
DeleteThawing field has briefly turned into your own quiet lakeside retreat
ReplyDeleteRo, the thawing has continued, and the lakeside illusion is already gone. (Just a field with puddles and some remaining patches of ice now!)
DeleteThat's the thing with a thaw, it usually causes floods.
ReplyDeleteCK, it does have a tendency to do that, yes...
DeleteIt was 19C in London yesterday with blue sky and warm sunshine. It was so uplifting after all the gloom and rain. Like a summer's day. Today it was grey and cold again. Back to winter again.
ReplyDeleteAddy, 19C still seems a long way away here.
DeleteHooray for warmer weather for you. Here Downunder, some are beginning to wish Autumn would come sooner.
ReplyDeleteRiver, I'm not really all that fond of the worst heat of summer either.
DeleteI've walked past a waterlogged field yesterday, it looked like a series of small ponds. Hopefully, you'll be able to get into town on Monday without having to battle against snow and ice!
ReplyDeleteMeike, our field has reached that stage today as well. (Puddles rather than the illusion of of big lake.)
DeleteAh the muddy season is arriving. Slush has never been a favorite, but oh the blossoms!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, no blossoms to be seen yet, but getting rid of the snow is of course one step in the process! :)
DeleteIt always amazes me to see how water birds flock to flooded fields. I wonder why they do. Perhaps the water brings food to the surface.
