Drought

Even if we've not really had "extremely" hot weather here lately, it has continued to be an exceptionally dry summer - and the evidence of that keep increasing now that we're half way into August. The all yellow tree caught my eye in the old cemetery today, and the other two examples of trees looking like they're kind of giving up are from last week.

I was tired over the weekend and haven't been doing much. Today I went into town for a pharmacy errand before lunch; and managed that, but felt no inspiration for anything "extra" - and also felt quite exhausted on my way back. Not even sure I can blame the tiredness on the weather (semi-cloudy and not really hot). Sitting down for a proper break before walking back home might have been better - I just didn't really feel in the mood for that either!

Late this afternoon we did get a short rain shower, which felt refreshing - but it did not last long. We may be getting a bit more later in the week - but how much remains to be seen!

  1. We've had a few drops of rain today - but not enough. I noticed a lot of our young birch trees are already yellow and losing their leaves. No wonder we're all feeling tired. It's ennervating.

  3. I was so tired today I almost cried while mopping the kitchen floor. I think it is the heat even though we have AC in the house. each time I go outside it drains me. walking at 6:45 this morning, sunrise, the heat index was 106 and climbing. Beau was huffing and puffing halfway throught the walk. I have zero energy. I need some cool, with no humidity air to breathe.
