Whether that also makes him suited to general practice may still be discussed ;) But it's the main reason why I have not yet demanded a second opinion...DawnTreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04533307672147117843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609118120551505936.post-70429908504596148252020-10-29T11:04:18.553+01:002020-10-29T11:04:18.553+01:00Oh, dear. I feel so sorry for you.
I think your doctor is not suited to general practice and would benefit from further study - perhaps in a different field, maybe literature or agriculture. I don't doubt you're right ...Thanks Graham. I don't doubt you're right about that aspect of island life vs city life. I even feel a difference to do with the growth of my city over the three decades I've lived here - and the changes in modern society as a whole as well, I suppose (relying so much more on technology nowadays, more stressful, and little time for "chatting"). There was a time when I did know some of the staff at my health care centre, but they've all left or retired now. In this case, it's the doc who has a foreign accent. (The misunderstandings not so much to do with his accent though, but rather with him speaking faster than I can think!)DawnTreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04533307672147117843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609118120551505936.post-13294920152574116542020-10-27T21:05:05.372+01:002020-10-27T21:05:05.372+01:00Ginny, I was surprised myself... Island life is a lot more 'connected' that city life and I think there are benefits which pass even into the medical situation. Now imagine you were not the person you are (see Alice's conversation above...) but someone who spoke little Swedish... you wouldn't stand a chance without an interpreter at your side.

Well done with the shopping spree!
