Actually it was on Wednesday rather than Friday this week that we "almost" got a glimpse of the sky behind the grey clouds and rain that have dominated the whole week. Not having been out at all for a few days, I grabbed the opportunity for a half hour walk for exercise.
I stopped for a while across the street from the building above, trying to figure out what's going on there. Seemed like some new business is moving into the premises, and doing some changes. Actually, one of the signs outside suggested that it's an old business moving back to the area where they once started out, thirty years ago. The name didn't ring a bell with me though, so no idea what kind of business. Nor do I know if they're moving back to the exact same building or just the same complex. Or what exactly all those triangular thingies in front are for...
As I had no errands and didn't need to carry anything, I took both my walking poles on this walk for a change - mostly just for the extra exercise (for arms/shoulders). We're still having very mild weather. No risk of icy spots just now - but the risk of slipping on a mess of wet leaves is not over...
Crossing the old cemetery on my way back home.
(Imagine a constant background sound of leaf-blowers at work...)
I'll be linking to Skywatch Friday

Your cemetery shot is so lovely. The first photo, it looks like a giant jungle gym or some kind of modernistic playground. Of course it's not. I would think it is scaffolding except for the pointed tops.
ReplyDeleteGinny, yes, it's the "pointed tops" that puzzle me, too...
ReplyDeletegood to get out when it's chilly, fresh air is great and your cemetery looks lovely and tidy.
ReplyDeleteAmy, it's very well looked after.
DeleteA small reprieve in an otherwise dreary week, offering just enough clarity for you to observe a place in quiet transition while reclaiming a bit of movement for yourself.
ReplyDeleteRo, it was good to get out for a while - and good to be able to at least go for walks of that length again, when the weather is right for it.
Deleteit looks so peaceful, glad I can't hear the lawn blowers. its hard to tell just what is going on, put that on your list to walk by when its done and show us what they are up tol
ReplyDeleteI kept myself from a fall yesterday, in our own front yard, by using the walking pole I take with me to walk Beau. it doubles as walk pole/bang a dog or coyote on the head weapon if needed. It was still not quite light enough to see a 3 foot limb, it caught my left foot and as I almost tumbled to the right, luckily the hand that grasped the pole, I was able to stay upright. can't use two poles with the leased dog
Glad your walking pole was of help to you, Sandra! When I have shopping etc to do, and need one hand free, I take just one pole as well, or things get too complicated...
DeleteI was thinking the same as MadSnapper n Beau, that the cemetery photo looks so peaceful and quiet - glad I can't hear the leaf blowers! (You know they are a pet hate of mine.)
ReplyDeleteVery good that you took advantage of the short period without rain and got out for a walk. And of course you will return to check on the new-old business at some stage.
Meike, I'm no fan of the sound of leaf blowers either - but I am geateful that they keep the cemetery in good order, and clear the paths regularly...!
DeleteI hope you find some answers to your questions. The old cemetery is beautiful. Is welcoming an inappropriate word here? 😉
ReplyDeleteJanice, I've been finding it a welcoming place to walk in for 17 years now. Hoping to stay "above ground" for a number of years yet, though... 😉
DeleteIt's good that you managed to get out for a short walk in the fresh air - such a pleasure after being confined to home for a while.
ReplyDeletePavements here are very slippy with fallen leaves and a heavy overnight dew makes them like a skating rink!
Carol, yes, it's still rather like that in many places here too. (Where the leaf blowers have NOT been lately...)
DeletePretty sky, and glad you were able to get out for a bit of exercise!
ReplyDeleteNice shots.
