No, not "seeing red" as in being angry... I just decided to look for the colour RED on my walk in the old cemetery this afternoon. I just wanted to be out for a while, without straying too far from home. (It wasn't raining just then - but they sky was all grey, and it was the kind of day when you have to be prepared for showers.)
The most common flower decorating the graves this time of year is heather, with comes in a variety of pinkish/reddish hues... For my "hunt" today I decided not to count those as red - which didn't stop a few from sneaking into my photos anyway... But in the photo above it was the red begonia I was focusing on!

The reds are so sharp and beautiful, really brightening up the gloomy day. And even roses! Love the mushroom, it is the color of fall and pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteGinny, yes, the colour red somehow stands out even more on a gloomy day :)
DeleteWhat a lovely idea to seek out splashes of red on a grey afternoon, and the bright begonia certainly stands out beautifully against the quiet, contemplative atmosphere of the old cemetery
ReplyDeleteRo, sometimes it's fun to try and look for a special theme :)
DeleteWere you inspired by Jennyfreckles' recent hunt for the colour red in her pictures? In any case, your collection is beautiful; I especially like the berries (or whatever they are?) and of course the mushroom.
ReplyDeleteI often wear particularly bright colours on grey days for counter-balance :-)
Meike, yes - I referred to Jenny's hunt in my previous post the day before. But since I didn't find many red "things" (only a couple of garden tools), yesterday I decided to expand to flowers and nature...
DeleteBeautiful red selection, my mum used to grow begonias in all colours.
ReplyDeleteRiver, begonias are very common on the graves in the cemetery in summer but are gradually being replaced by more frost-hardy winter decorations now.
DeleteA splash of red is so welcome on a chilly, grey autumn day. It really lifts the spirits.
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show how much red is about this time of year and brightens up the greyness of the skies.
