Weekend Reflections

Linking to Weekend/Street Reflections #299

The weather has been shifting a lot this week. Today we had a nice sunny afternoon again, and I snapped this photo from a bridge over the river, in connection with a walk to my nearest super/mega-market.

While I buy most of my groceries online with home delivery these days (from the same mega market), I occasionally like to visit in person to keep up to date with changes, or to check on things of the kind one really wants to see IRL before buying.

I found that besides Halloween decorations, they already had a lot of Christmas decorations on display...

Most of that feels way too early for me to think about yet, as I don't want any Christmas decorations up before Advent/ December. But online I had seen some tall green LED candles that I might like for November... And I did end up buying a pair of those. (Not using those just yet either, but they may show up in some future post.) Plus a couple of other small items where size/colour matters to me.

  1. Your reflection photo is gorgeous! I would have had to buy one of those little white houses with the cone shaped roof and a bow on the top.

    1. Ginny, I'm sure I would have had a hard time getting you away from those shelves... ;)

  2. The reflection photo is perfection. There are Christmas things in shops here too.

    1. River, I suppose it is like that almost everywhere now. I seem to recall a time here when they'd wait until after Halloween to put up the Christmas things - but that may have been back in the previous century...

  3. What a beautiful autumn day! Ideal for a good walk, combined with an errand.
In my nearest Aldi, where I do nearly all of my shopping, Halloween and Christmas things have been on the shelves for about a month now, and the first Christmas cookies have appeared at the beginning of September.

    1. Meike, it does seem to start earlier every year. Last time I visited the supermarket was back in summer, so I'm not sure when they started with the Christmas decorations...

  4. I love that first photo - the deep blue sky and reflection is stunning. Christmas starts here around September!! Way too early to consider presents and food.

  5. Yes, Christmas things appearing in our stores too. It feels too early to even think about it, though I read this morning that it is only nine weeks away, which did give me a shock!

    1. Jenny, now you have me wondering why I too suddenly feel that nine weeks sounds closer than two months!?
