Leaf Blowers
Leaf blowers have been hard at work here lately... One day there were three of them at the same time on the lawns outside my windows - looking a bit like an invasion by Aliens... I only managed to catch two of them in the same photo, though! ;)
I find it can be frustrating when there is wind! As soon as the leaves are gone, more blow down!
ReplyDeleteGinny, there are a lot of trees in my neighbourhood, and lots of leaves that have to be "taken care of" if they are not to just end up as a vast muddy mess on the streets and walk paths.
DeleteNoisy aren't they? We have them here every month when the "gardeners"come around cutting grass and trimming back shrubs so the don't hang over pathways and obstruct emergency services such as ambulances etc
ReplyDeleteRiver, while I don't like the sound of them, I do appreciate the job getting done...
DeleteOne of my least favourite things in the whole world!!
ReplyDeleteMeike, I do wish they'd find a way to do it more quietly, but our streets and walkways would be a total mess if the huge amount of fallen leaves weren't removed. In places where they are not, I walk with "mini steps" and kind of holding my breath now...
DeleteWhat's wrong with using a good old broom (on pavement) or a rake (on grass)? They are as fast and efficient as any blower, if you know what you're doing.
DeleteMeike, I do think the leaf blowers are a lot more efficient on pavement and walk paths, and that it would require more staff to get the job done manually. - At 70+ and after my fall last autumn, I'm really just thankful for any way they get wet leaves off the walkways asap!!
DeleteThere are a lot of leaves!
ReplyDeleteThere certainly are!
DeleteThe leaves have suddenly decided to come down in large quantities this week. I expect our alien leaf blowers will be here soon.
ReplyDeleteAddy, we've had some rain and wind lately doing their best to shake the trees bare...
