Shadow Shot Sunday

Today started with a view of blue sky and white fluffy clouds - a rather rare sight lately.

Also quite a lot of white fluffy stuff on the ground again, since the snowstorm on Friday. The rectangular spots of light are reflections from windows on the building across the lawn.

In the afternoon, I decided to venture out for a short walk to catch a few of the rare rays of sunshine, and to get a "feeling " for how slippery or not it felt on the ground. It wasn't "too" bad, but I still felt that even using two walking poles I had better keep my eyes on the ground with every step. I did go over to the old cemetery, but only went in far enough to snap this photo of a path that had not been ploughed:

  1. Ah, the snowy white stuff continues. How early or late does spring usually come there? Glad you could get out for a safe distance!

    1. Barbara, February is definitely a winter month, but in March one can usually start looking for early signs of spring. Our official nation-wide "welcoming of spring" celebration is not until 30th April, though. And one never knows very long in advance what the weather may be like then either.

  2. We have snow forecast for this coming week. Not looking forward to it, I'm so ready for spring.

    1. Amy, it's a nice place to walk all year round but since my knee injury back in the autumn I'm still extra careful and unwilling to take risks...

  4. I love the picture of the reflected windows
It feels like it has been raining in the UK for ever - I live in the South West and snow here is rare

    1. Siobhan, snow can brighten things up (especially combined with sunshine) but can also make life difficult. I wish there was a way to make it fall only on the lawns but leave streets bare! ;)

  5. Scary, and I'm glad you didn't go any farther! The snow reflection shot is gorgeous! The top right looks like a water or even cloud reflection. It could be many things, which makes it art.

    1. Ginny, the winter we've had has certainly slowed down my attempts to get back to "normal" walking after the knee injury (4 months ago now!!)

  6. Beautiful shadows across the snow, set off nicely by the blue sky above.

    1. Thanks River. Trying to appreciate the beauty at the same time as sighing about the "troubles" that winter brings...

  7. It's still winter, after all, but I am glad that our snow is gone - of course there is no guarantee that there won't be any more before we can really call it spring :-)

    1. Meike, we can probably expect more before winter is over here. Some kids here may be happy about what there is of it just now, as schools are closed for winter sports holiday this week. (Different weeks for different regions in Sweden but I think it's "our" turn just now.)

  8. Attractive shadows, but best seen from indoors.
