Yesterday: Crocuses in a flowerbed in my neighbourhood.
Today I decided to put what energy I had into getting started to "make spring" on my balcony. So I got the plastic rug, my chair, and the trellis with fake leaves (bought last year) up from the basement storage room. With pauses in between, I also got them in place during the day. (Fingers crossed that April has no plans to throw another storm at us!) No live flowers for a while yet, as frosty nights are still likely to happen. I also plan to keep it simple - not too much messing about with "growing things"... But I'll buy some geraniums later on, they're easy to move around depending on the weather, or even take in if needed.
It looks amazing. I could definitely enjoy that space.

ReplyDeleteWow - looking at those crocus made me realise that somehow this year, spring in your area really seems quite far behind "ours", when in previous years I always perceived it as maybe two or three weeks apart.
ReplyDeleteI thought you'd bought the trellis with the artificial leaves two years ago, it just looks so "familiar" now on your balcony.
Hopefully, you'll soon be able to sit outside on your chair; here, we're in for a drop in temperature and more unsettled weather after a beautiful sunny and mild period.
Meike, you're right - it was two years ago that I bought that trellis. "Time flies" when you get to my age... ;)
DeleteYes, to me too we seem to be far behind both Germany and Britain this year, when it comes to spring blossoms. I'm not sure if later than average. It felt like a long cold and snowy winter to me but then I've been extra "limited" this year by my bad knee...
It is a nice little balcony, just the right size for one.
