Walked into town today for an appointment with my dental hygienist, just a routine checkup and treatment, and all went well with that. The sky was grey, but it did not rain, and there was no wind either - the river was almost like a mirror.
Weather forecasts for the next couple of days here have changed a bit and now it seems that storm Kirk probably won't be affecting the area where I live much, but will follow the east coast up north . Will still be raining here tomorrow, but no special warnings issued.
Got a message that flu (+covid) vaccinations are starting here already this week; which is almost a month earlier than usual. Logged in for further info and managed (I think!) to book an appointment for that on Monday. Last year I remember it all got
rather chaotic with long queues at the health care centre in spite of
pre-booked appointments - I can only hope they've managed to organise it
better this year...
Your color is gorgeous!!! Flu shots here were available in August! But if you get them that early, then they wear off too soon. We just got both our flu and covid,
ReplyDeleteGinny our flu vaccination has usually been given in November. I guess it's probably because of covid that they've moved it forward here now. There is of course a lot of time saved for both patients and health care if both shots can be given at the same time.

ReplyDeleteHere, nobody has mentioned another Covid booster, but my employer offers free flu jabs for us (plus family members), and my appointment is next week Friday. They are very efficient there, using rooms and staff of our company plus a pair of external doctors/nurses, and I get to choose the small plaster to stick on the jab wound - last year, it was a cat :-)
Meike, I think the recommendations here for both are primarily for people over 65 or with certain health issues. (For my own part I've been taking the annual flu shot for over 20 years now.)

ReplyDeleteAs far as I know there is no mention of Covid here. The surge in numbers in the UK could be happening on another planet! Someone is bound to bring it over before long, and there will be panic again as there was in 2020. I haven't seen anything about 'flu jabs either, but it may be too early.
Had to smile at Meike being allowed to choose the plaster to cover her jab wound. Was that because she was a very good girl and didn't cry!
Carol, I used to get the flu jab in November but perhaps they changed it for better coordination with covid boosters - not sure. No fancy plasters at my health care centre! ;)

DeleteIn fact, our "house doctor" keeps a stack of plasters and other materials for the children of employees who sometimes are officially allowed to spend a day with Mum or Dad at the work place. I spotted the colourful plasters when it was my turn to get the jab, and asked whether I could have the cat one. My wish was granted, and this year, I have already been informed that I could choose between Snoopy, a skull, a panda bear and a few other motives. I guess I'll go for Snoopy!
We didn't even get a plaster - just a piece of cotton wool to hold over the tiny speck of blood until it healed!
