"Believe you can and you're halfway there."
— Theodore Roosevelt —
We had another sunny November day here, with temperatures hovering around 0'C - but pavements dry and looking "walkable"... I decided to believe myself able to walk at least down to the river and back the same way. But once I reached the bridge, I decided to prolong the walk by crossing that, and walking back along the path on the other side to the next bridge (behind the buildings in the background); and from there up across the old cemetery back home. Which according to my own caluclations should mean that I managed a walk of at least 1 km. (Only an interim goal; but still worth celebrating!)
Tomorrow is laundry day again, which is likely to keep me busy enough at home.
The afternoons are very short this time of year...
| Sunrise Today: | 8:12 am |
| Sunset Today: | 3:36 pm |

I'm very cautious of the ice underfoot, just ordered new walking boots and will add some winter grips for added security.
ReplyDeleteGood footwear does make a difference, CK. Hope you'll find your new boots comfortable.
DeleteA gorgeous reflection photo! Wow, your sunset is about an hour earlier than ours.
ReplyDeleteBravo for extending your walk, your neighborhood looks ideal for walking.
ReplyDeleteTerra, it is, and I've been missing it - hardly having dared leave my own street for weeks...
DeleteHooray for your first kilometer-long walk in a while! You did the best possible thing with this kind of weather, cold but dry and sunny.
ReplyDeleteMeike, it was good to get down to the riverside again, and also raised my hope of eventually getting back to "normal" - even if slowly.
Deleteours today is 6:59 am / 5:36 pm . so glad to see your beautiful photos of what you see when walking, this is gorgeous... yay for the 1 k walk, you are getting there faster y the day.. I wish I could transport across the big pond and walk with you
ReplyDeleteSandra, it was good to be able to catch a river reflection view again! :)
DeleteYou're gradually increasing your 'range', which is good. A calm sunny day encourages more 'activity,' I find.
ReplyDeleteThe days seem very short now, increasingly so as we approach the winter solstice, though our daylight hours are longer than yours, Monica - sunrise at 07.33 and sunset at 16.01 today.
Janice, yes, I think gradually is the way to go - hoping to avoid major setbacks...
DeleteHow tranquil the photo looks. So glad that you managed quite a long walk, the weather looks perfect for a late November day.
ReplyDeleteIt was, and I was glad to be able to be out for a while.
DeleteThat first 1 km milestone sounds like a quiet but meaningful victory, especially against the crisp November light and shortening afternoons
ReplyDeleteRo, it was a good November day for a walk.
DeleteIt's lovely to get a walk on a crisp, blue sky day, despite the potential hazard of ice.
ReplyDeleteJenny, the snow was gone, and pavements had had time to dry up. Also some grit from the snowy days left, which meant that walking felt fairly safe that day.
DeleteAt least you're getting a walk in every day, that's important, fresh air is so nice.
ReplyDeleteNot quite every day this autumn, Amy - but I have tried to take advantage of the "good" days...
DeleteEvery little helps to get you back to normal again.
