Autumn Equinox

Sunday sunset photos from my balcony, yesterday evening - giving a hint of the weather changing from rainy to sunny, but also from summer to autumn.

The first three weeks of September have offered a mix of sunny and rainy days, but have on the whole still felt more like summer than autumn.

This Monday morning, however, there was a definite change to cooler air, and need of slightly warmer clothes - in spite of the sun shining from a blue sky.

And here and there, also a hint of autumn colours in nature now...

  1. It sounds very similar to what's happening here. I love your beautiful cloudy sunset photos, such a pretty mix of colours.

    1. Jenny, the clouds and light at sunset sometimes change so quickly that the impression one wanted to catch is gone before one has had a chance to get the camera or phone out... I was lucky with these though :)

  2. Similar to what Jenny has said, it‘s been like that here, too. Sunday has definitely marked the moment when we most notably had to say bye-bye to summer until next year, and welcome autumn for the coming two months or so.

    1. Meike, it looks like we're in for a sunny start to autumn here, and that's really my favourite kind of weather.

  3. It is definitely cooler here, too. There's still some warmth in the sun but the temperature quickly drops after sunset,

    1. Same here, Janice. Just now it seems like we're in for a period of sunny autumn days again, but should not be too surprised at a touch of frost in the nighttime.

  4. What a beautiful sky. The intense Autumn colours are one of the things I remember from my very first trip to Sweden - I haven't seen such vibrancy since. Here it all looks the same most of the year. It's the first cool-ish day we've had since the end of May and very welcome too. The temperature just after 7:30 this morning, when I walked the dog, was actually 20º - the lowest it's been for quite a while!

    1. Carol, in many ways sunny autumn is my favourite time of year. We were down to 13'C in the daytime today. As the sun was shining, it felt warmer, but the air was still "autumn fresh" rather than summery... My favourite kind of weather for walking, really!

    1. Sandra we're down to 14'C - 57'F here, although the sun shining from a clear blue sky makes it feel warmer than that. I'd try to blow some cooler air your way if I could, but... ;-)
