Jönköping, A6 Golf Club
Leaving Eksjö, we set off on the last "leg" of our road trip, back to Borås. The largest city between there and here is Jönköping (see the map at the bottom of the post). We knew from going the other way on our first day of the trip, that there were a lot of road works going near Jönköping - and we also didn't really feel like driving into the city centre anyway. (It's not quite as large as Linköping, but it's larger than Borås.) But we did need to stop for lunch somewhere... However, Jönköping has not just one, but two golf courses on the outskirts... And as I said in an earlier post from this trip (from Åtvidaberg): "One thing we've learned on previous road trips is that golf clubs usually also have restaurants serving lunch." I think we've also visited one of the two outside Jönköping before (years ago) - but this time it was the other one (new to us) that was most convenient:
The restaurant is in the building to the left. I did not take any photos inside, but after lunch we went for a little stroll before we got back in the car again.
There used to be an Artillery regiment in Jönköping (closed since 1985); hence the name A6 - and the reason for having this old cannon on display up on a hill, I suppose!!

I think my favorite is the gorgeous intense sky with the little circle of golf carts! I think many of the golf clubs around here, you have to be a member in order to eat there.

ReplyDeleteRo, it's worth remembering when one is travelling by car and not keen on driving into a city centre to look for a restaurant.

ReplyDeleteI have never set foot in a golf club, but I know that the ones around here also have restaurants open to anyone, not just club members, and they are reputedly rather good.
Meike, I have been to the one on the outskirts of Borås several times. When my aunt and uncle were still quite frequently visiting here, they often took me to lunch there. (N.b. they don't play golf either.) Having learned from that, I've also been there a numer of times with my brother when he's been visiting. Besides nice environment and good food, there are also no parking problems! :)
DeleteBlue skies most of the time through your holiday. It makes such a difference if the weather is good.
ReplyDeleteJanice, the weather does indeed make a difference. We also did try to fit this trip into a week when the weather forecasts seemed favorable (as in neither extreme heat nor much rain predicted). Both of us retired now, no need to make plans all that far ahead.

ReplyDeleteCarol, I've never even tried swinging a golf club - except in miniature golf, and even that was decades ago now. And a bad right shoulder since 25+ years doesn't make it seem even the least bit tempting to take it up in my 70s...

ReplyDeleteThis looks like a very well maintained golf course. We saw the first golf course in Scotland last year and I find it amazing how golf has become a worldwide sport over the years!
