Northsider, I'm a big fan of both, and have also read biographies about them, especially Lewis. I've also read quite a few of his theological books, and Shadowlands is one of my favourite films as well. (I just went back and read your post from The Kilns last September.)

I visited JRR Tolkein and CS Lewis graves and The Kilns in Oxford last August. They both fought in ww1 but yet they still believed in God.
