"Autumn Is a Second Spring"

23rd September, 2025

▲ These trees at a parking area near the river in town are as eager to display beautiful autumn colours in September, as they were to show off cherry blossom back in May. (Photos taken from different angles, but it's the same place.) ▼

when every leaf is a flower."

  1. This is such a cool idea; the same tree in both spring and fall. Both so beautiful.

  2. Gorgeous colours! I am looking forward to seeing the leves turning to the full glory of their autumn colours over the coming weeks.
Have Barbie and Skipper already changed into warmer outfits?

    1. Meike, they have put on jeans/trousers and have settled down to read... As one can't attach photos in the comment section, I suppose I'd better make them appear in a blog post soon :)

  3. That is a lovely quotation from Camus, and a refreshing way of considering autumn.

    1. Janice, I think a sunny autumn day with crisp air and the trees still "in colour" is really my favourite kind of weather :)

  4. You are always looking for the beauty in your vicinity Monica - and that is a very good thing for beauty contains healing power.

    1. Thanks Neil - and I agree :) I think getting my first digital camera (I think around 20 years ago) really made a difference to my "views of the world" - and even more so since combined with blogging (2009 onward)...

  5. Lots of colour on the trees here. Much of it is due to drought-induced stress rather than as a true measure of the changing season, I suspect. The Sugar Maple in our yard has lost all its leaves, a process that doesn’t usually happen until around mid October.

    1. David, I do think these trees are just going through their normal autumn phase. We haven't had any severe drought here, and checking my photos from September 2024, autumn was about the same stage then as it is now - these trees included. Some trees are still all green, others are beginning to turn yellow - and a few, like these, turn red.

  6. Camus had a bit of truth to say indeed. I enjoyed seeing the two versions of the cherry trees. Now I'll go check the ones around here and see what's happening.
