I asked Bing Image Creator for a cartoon image of a senior woman cleaning the floor with a dry mop, with a vacuum cleaner ("of Scandinavian design") in the background. In the first attempt (alas I forgot to save that one!) the woman was looking way too happy about the job, so I asked for a remake with a "more neutral" facial expression (result as above).
Then I discovered the double hoses on the vacuum cleaner, and asked Bing to remove the second hose. Bing did obey my order - but please note the change in the woman's facial expression in the next picture... I don't think Bing appreciated having to redo it again! (LOL)
And when I asked for a third correction... Bing claimed my request to be inappropriate, and refused to make another attempt!
Originally, the image was supposed to illustrate my "indoors workout" today: cleaning my flat. Because of my present slight handicaps, it occurred to me to just use a dry mop to go over some bare floor surfaces this time, as the mop is so much lighter to handle (especially reaching in under furniture etc). I only used the vacuum cleaner on the carpets.

I have totally forgotten where Bing is, and can't believe I had not touched it since all this began months ago. in fact I don't think I have since I got the iPad... so AI now has FEELINGS, wow
ReplyDeleteSandra, Bing resides in Microsoft Edge. I discovered recently that they've changed it a bit - just producing one image at a time, but you can ask it to "edit" the first result. Which is what I experimented with. It seems not to appreciate being asked to edit too many times, though!
DeleteHow funny; I never thought you could annoy a computer program! Dry mop on solid floor and vacuum on rugs for sure!
ReplyDeleteGinny, I've not been using the image creator much lately, but they evidently keep developing it. Or does it now keep developing itself? Who knows! ;)
DeleteBing also slightly changed the woman's hands holding the mop, without you having asked it to do that. I haven't played around with Bing in a while, but when I recently wanted a funny picture for a presentation at work (yes, even there we are allowed to have fun), it did quite well.
ReplyDeleteOf course "they" want you to buy an image-generating AI application if you want really good results, and maybe therefore too many requests to edit the first result are rejected.
Meike, I haven't used it much lately either but not too far ago I also tried repeated editing/adjustment of an image, when Bing suddenly told me that there was something unacceptable or inappropriate in my instructions, and just closed down. I can't recall now the exact word they used (I must make note of it if it happens again), but I certainly wasn't using coarse language or trying to get political undertones in the image etc. I'm more amused than annoyed - just curious to learn what exactly it reacts to - or if it's simply too many requests to change one and the same image that causes it.
DeleteIt comes to something when Bing gets stroppy. How funny!
ReplyDeleteAs I was only "playing around", it amused me too, Janice :)
DeleteI've never used Bing, but it looks from the last picture that it could exactly sum up my fed-up attitude towards floor cleaning!
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly not on my list of "fun" activities either, Carol... ;)
