Yellow tulips this weekend, to celebrate the 1st of March! (Never mind the weather forecasts predicting gloomier and more wintry weather again for next week...)
I've also put my yellow curtains back up in the kitchen.
the yellow makes your kitchen so cheerful. it always amazes me how just changing the curtains and a few things out changes your kitchen to look totally different
Sandra, as the kitchen in itself has very neutral colours (white/beige) it's easy to use fabrics to change the impression. The differences in light and foliage outside contribute as well, though.
I remember quite a few of your curtains, but NOT these yellow ones! They are gorgeous, cheerful and sunny! Did the valance come with them? I think they are my favorites; they really do make the whole room. You have the best taste in curtains...
Ginny, I don't have all that many different curtains, but I sometimes arrange them a bit differently. I've had these yellow ones for decades. But the valance (new word for me in English!) is one I found when we emptied my parents' house. I can't remember ever seeing it used in any window there, but mum obviously made the embroidery on it. So I took it home. It went into a drawer in my basement storage and I forgot about it until I happened to find it again last autumn and then had the idea to combine it with the yellow ones.
Meike, I don't wear yellow a lot, but I like my yellow curtains as I feel they help prolong the sunny season in my kitchen :) And tulips in the spring have the same effect...
I love yellow. The 1 March is St David's Day when those who wish to remember Wales's patron saint wear a daffodil. I did thanks to the a cancer charity who make them. My garden is full of daffodils at the moment too. I don't think I have any tulips that are yellow. When they come up this year I must take note.
Thanks for the info on St David's Day, Graham! - I don't think I ever knew that. It's one holiday we've not yet found any reason to import to Sweden... ;) A bit early for daffodils here yet. (We call those 'pÄskliljor' = Easter lilies.) Of course it's really too early for tulips outdoors as well... I think those I've bought this spring were actually grown in Sweden, though - but obviously in greenhouses :)
I really like your cheerful yellow curtains and those gorgeous flowers have made my day. I am here from Ginny 's blog. I am of Swedish heritage but don't speak a word of it. My folks used to use a few "slang" expressions but that's it. My Hubby and I visited Stockholm for a few days back in the 1980's when we were on a tour. We loved it and I am proud of my Scandinavian background.

DeleteYellow tulips and curtains - I love it! (no surprise there, since yellow is my favourite colour, as is well known.)

DeleteNice! nothing wrong with a bit of colour to welcome in Spring.
ReplyDeleteLove.
