I seem perpetually unable to keep up lately…
Last weekend, spring decided to go straight on to summer, as fast as possible – unfolding every leaf and blossom, and making people rush to get their their summer clothes out of storage, and put the winter coats away. In the afternoons this week (until yesterday), we had temperatures around 25°C or more. (And on my balcony, in the afternoon sun, too hot to sit there, even with parasols up, some days.)
Three days in a row this week, on my morning walk I passed by this view over the river and the cherry blossom trees in the town park – noticing the colours growing more intense every day!
Monday (9th May)
Tuesday (10th May)
Tuesday (10th May)
Wednesday (11th May)
Yesterday, though, Spring suddenly thought to itself: What am I doing? – and decided to rewind… Not able to make the leaves on the trees fold up again (I think); but drew some clouds over the sun, and dropped the temperature down to 7°C or so today. So I’ve been rummaging for whatever warm sweaters I did not put into seasonal storage… even to wear indoors… and I certainly feel no wish at all today to sit down outside!
Wow - stunning shots. And now we are back to winter...
ReplyDeleteBrrr yes, Fiona! :)
DeleteWe didn't get to such giddy heights (just 20℃) but, like you, we've plunged back down to 7℃. Those are lovely sequential shots showing up the scene at its most beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Graham. Yes, quite a roller coaster ride with the weather. (And my body was never very good at handling those...)
DeleteThese are an good and interesting set. I have often thought of taking a picture a day from the same place and running them through the year as a time lapse. This would make a good subject.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year it does, Adrian. Not sure about the long bare branches season though... :)
DeleteFrom what my Mum told me why I was away, in Germany it was very summery for a few days, too. Now that I'm back, it is cold enough again to turn on the heating and wanting my padded coat when I leave the house.
ReplyDeleteThe cherry blossoms have all gone from in front of my kitchen window - now the tree is covered in tiny green cherries.
Sounds promising, Meike (the cherries)!
DeleteThank you for visiting me! Had to laugh, because I have been going through washing my winter clothes, intending to store them, only to wear them a few days later! Wow, 25 deg. C is high for N. Europe! Love the blooming trees, and the tulips above! Who knows it's going go be a warm summer this yer for you!
ReplyDeleteJeannette: Back to 10°C now. One really never knows with Swedish summer... :)
Deleteso much beauty, awesome reflections and super shots, all of these.. sorry the cold came back
