I've been racking my brain to remember their history, but the details aren't really clear in my my memory any more. I think that both may have been bought on some family holiday trip in the south of Sweden in my early teens or so - and that orginally, one was kept by us/me while the other was given to my p. grandmother. One reason why the details are blurred in my memory now is probably that later on, my parents moved to live in my dad's childhood home - and I seem to have memories of both ornaments from different windows over time. The only thing I'm sure about now is that at least since 2014, they have both been residing with me!
They're delightful. I love blue glass and a bit of colour brightens up these winter months.

ReplyDeleteMe too, love blue glass. I wonder if it reminds me of water when light shines through it. You could always make up stories about how you (or your grandmother) might have received them. There was this handsome man who saw her looking at one, but she didn't have the funds for it, and though he knew she wouldn't even talk to him, a stranger...he secretly gave the shop keeper...etc.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I'm afraid there were no handsome strangers involved in the purchase ;) ... Just a bit blurry in my memory when the two were passed on between different family members. I think I may have given the small one to my grandmother and then inherited it back when she died. But I'm not sure.
