For the month of June in my 2026 photo calendar, I chose this garden gate. It's from my visit last summer (in August) to the childhood home of the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren (at Näs, Vimmberby, in the province of Småland). A lot of my "computer time" is currently spent trouble shooting again. This time it's my printer that's being uncooperative (since a week or two). It still works as copier (showing that it's not "dead") but refuses to print documents from the computer - or scan images. I've tried the "automatic" trouble shooting routines without success, so I'll probably have to get into the more time consuming process of uninstalling and reinstalling etc... Or perhaps even wait for a new app which the old app says is going to be released soon... Just hoping no urgent printing jobs will turn up in the meantime!
I love the gate, promising so much beyond it.
ReplyDeleteTechnology has a way of tripping us up, particularly when we most need it. I hope you can sort it out without too much more trouble.
Janice, it's the kind of thing for which one has to know one has plenty of time to pursue it to the end, though... (sigh)

DeleteVery pretty gate...which seems to have no real purpose except for being pretty. Anything except humans can go right through it...or around it. So sorry to hear about printer difficulties...shhhh, don't let mine hear that!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I think the purpose of gates like this are more to make you aware of entering a different (perhaps even magic) zone, rather than shut anything out :)
DeleteI like the gate. I like Pippi Longstocking too and wonder if children of these times would also like the stories. I hope your printer troubles are soon fixed.
ReplyDeleteRiver, the Pippi Longstocking books have never been out of print in Sweden since they were first published in November 1945. (AI just confirmed that for me and gave me the exact date.) That's 80+ years now...

ReplyDeletePrinters can be very finnicky, can't they. The slightest thing can send them into a huff and they refuse to cooperate. Good job that I have access to a range of devices at work, but it has become extremely rare for me to want or need something printed anyway; maybe twice a year (and I don't like to use the office equipment for personal purposes, which further limits the number of times I use them).
Knowing how persistent and methodically you go about these things, I am sure that you'll get to the bottom of it.
Meike, I still like to save some things in print on paper; and I have also used my printer/scanner/copier a lot for scanning old photos and postcards. As the current problem seems to be a software rather than hardware one, I suppose it must be solvable. As these "tech" things (thankfully) aren't routine for me, I always find myself having to start over from scratch in re-learning step-by-step how to deal with it, though...

DeleteLove your header image - very Summery! We had the same problem with our printer which was only a few years old, we ended up having to buy a new one, they are quite cheap here, have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteAmy, it remains to be seen if I need to do the same! I'll try to sort it out by reinstalling etc first though. Need to set aside a bit of time for that, though - some day when I don't have too much else on.
DeleteI hate it when things go wrong on my computer or mobile phone. I am not that technically savvy, so feel totally stressed when I have a problem. I just know what buttons to press when everything is working as it should!
