Step By Step

Today the clouds seemed less "compact" than they've been lately, and before lunch I decided to go for a short walk over to the old cemetery. Almost a week since last time, but the weather and snow conditions are still pretty much the same. The temperature has steadily kept below zero even in the daytime, and the nearby streets and the major cemetery paths are for the most part dry and clear of snow and ice.

In the cemetery, I practiced a bit of walking without actively using my walking pole with every step. (I.e. from time to time I just held it hovering a few cm above ground for a while, without setting it down - but ready to do so if needed.) I also made mental note that my knee still does not like the slightest downhill tilt - while slightly uphill doesn't seem to bother it as much. (Worth remembering when choosing where to walk...)

Mirror, mirror, help me please
to turn safely out into the street…

I’ve been having trouble posting another post that I prepared yesterday in Open Live Writer. Let’s see if this one goes through…?

Good Friday Reflections

This morning I walked into town to attend a Good Friday church service; and got into a triune reflective mood even before I reached the church. (There’s the building, and the building reflected in the water, and the reflection of both in the windows, and all of them caught at once by my eye and the camera; including the reflection of myself and the camera…)

Weekend Reflections: Mirror, Mirror on the Street

For Weekend Reflections
Guess who went out Christmas shopping today?

This year’s ice sculpture – created only one week ago – got a very short life. Good thing I was able to take a picture of it last Sunday (and also of the artist at work on Saturday). Today’s morning paper reported it melted and collapsed already!

The artist takes it with a shrug though. An ice sculpture is not meant to last forever and it’s part of the excitement that you never know how long it will keep or what the weather will do to it.

Today, in the place where the sculpture stood last week, they had put up a lot of things for an auction.

CIMG6322-1

I did not stay for the auction but I did have a look around.

Traditional Yule goat made by straw.
My parents had one like that but with shorter legs.

Maybe I should have stayed. Not to buy, but to see what people might be willing to pay for this kind of stuff. Considering that I/we (my brother and I) have a whole house full various articles of similar kind. What I really don’t need though is to get carried away by the general generous Christmas spirit and start bidding on someone else’s old cookie tins… ;)

Weekend Reflection–Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

DSCN2039-1

Not obvious, perhaps, but the photo above is a mirror shot.
Can you see me?

DSCN2026-1

No, that’s not me!
(She’s got little window reflections in her face…)

Here I am again, in another mirror.

Still at the Textile Museum
(from where I’ve been posting all week)

The first shot is from the Visitors’ Workshop Corner,
where they also have a clothes rack full of stuff
which you can try on in front of a big mirror.
Before you comment, perhaps I’d better add
that it’s my own clothes I’m wearing.
Just to save us from embarrassment!

The red-and-blue mirror frame is from
the 60’s/70’s Design Exhibition.
