‘Spiral’ is the theme for Friday My Town Shoot Out this week. Today is Saturday, so I’m a little late… But here are some spirals I found on my walk into town today:
“Tornado” sculpture at the railway station.
Mannequin (or whatever) in a shop window.
Spiral staircase (and its shadow reflection).
(Photo converted into black & white as it was very nearly b&w anyway.)
David Zinn’s dragon still hanging on.
And – a new thought for me, because of being on the lookout specifically for spirals this time: Maybe last year’s mural by Kobra was partially inspir(al)ed by the yellow Declination sculpture by Tony Cragg? It struck me particularly when I took the photo from the angle below (the painting continues around the corner of the building).

i like them ALL... the wire form in the window i love and the dragon on the sidewalk. my most favorite is the stairs on the building.
Spirals in so many different places and each one so different....who would think you could have so many and that probably doesn't scratch the surface. Nice job of photography.
Quite a variety, I really like the tornado.
It's amazing how many spirals you can find when you look at them! The staircase is my favourite of this lot.
Your town is filled with such incredible outdoor art....I love it.
If you had not pointed out that the spiral staircase included a reflection, I was admiring the double stairs and thinking what craftsmanship.
It's wonderful having so much art in the city but, although Tornado is possibly my overall favourite because it will last, my heart really likes the dragon. I think the artist is so talented.
love the staircase photo.
Thanks Sandra. Sometimes it's really fun to go out on a photo search with a theme in mind.
Thanks Wanda. I did not have to go "out of my way" to find these, just tried to keep my eye open for sprials along the way I was going...
Yes I like that one too. I think it's been there since our first international sculpture festival in 2010.
One of the many things we often hurry by without thinking of it as "art" but which may change before our eyes when we happen to carry a camera :)
Reflections is one of those things I've become much more aware of in later years since joining the photo-blogging community, Virginia!
My heart really likes that little dragon too, Graham. I guess it makes me a little biased perhaps that I was there to see him "born" (sketched)... I can't walk by the Town House now without checking if he's still there!
Thank you.
