Friday was another hot day here. Between breakfast and lunch, I went for a walk to another of the “lungs” of this city - the park with the bird sanctuary lake.
Looked like a buoy but I think it must have been a ball or perhaps balloon.
The ducks seemed to be having a lazy morning on land. There were almost only mallards and a few gulls to be seen on this day.
The lake is lined with yellow irises in bloom just now, very pretty.
Sharing with Weekend Reflections
that is a really nice little island out there, and i am wondering why those ducks are not out there swimming or playing on the island. lovely reflections.
ReplyDeleteSandra, just like me, most of the ducks on this day seemed to prefer the shadow under the trees...
DeleteWhat beautiful pictures and reflections!! You got the mallard's head to shine like a jewel! The combination of the yellow iris and the deep blue water is stunning! I love the little island with the house for the birds, that is good shelter. I love your background and beautiful header! I would walk here every day! But you are probably limited because of the heat.
ReplyDeleteGinny, if I lived closer to it, I'm sure I would. What keeps me from doing so is the distance before I get there - which is also rather dull! It's worth it once in a while, but not every day :)
DeleteI can feel the heat in those photos Monica.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet this was before noon rather than after! :)
DeleteThe blue looks so intense, and the yellow irises in front of it - beautiful! I wonder where the female ducks were. Maybe all enjoying some natter elsewhere, seperate from the men :-)
ReplyDeleteMeike, I suspect the female ducks were busy looking after their young ones... In some other corner of the lake which escaped my gaze on that day. (Why the drakes don't seem to share that duty, I don't know! But they seem not to have kept up with our Swedish standard of gender equality!)
DeleteA nice peaceful park....I love the cute little island in the lake.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are really pretty.
I am a bit busy here but I've just been able to catch up with your blog.
Thanks for visiting, Virginia! :)
DeleteThat looks like a perfect place to visit on a hot day. I'm sure you would be cooler just looking at it. Love the little island but I can see why the ducks prefer the shade.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful park!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. I have been missing in the blog world for a long time. I have been way too busy. I am hopefully back on track. I just added a post.
