Swedish Gotland pony foal (above) – and his mummy (below).
Gotland pony or Gotland russ is an old Swedish pony breed. Gotland ponies are claimed to descend from Tarpans that lived on the small island of Gotland that is on the South-Eastern coast of Sweden right after the last ice age. The Gotland pony is the only breed of pony native to Sweden.

For Good Fences
Wow, new to me! I never heard of them. At first, I thought this was a miniature pony. The baby is quite pot bellied, more so then the mom. I also think he is much more beautiful then mom. I never heard of the island either!
ReplyDeletewhat beautiful ponies and i can see the joy on the childrens faces, which is how i would look if i were there
ReplyDeleteThese two ponies have beautiful coats and coloring.
ReplyDeletesuch a cutie. i fixed your link-in. it wasn't getting back to your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are just precious looking.
ReplyDeleteThe kid needs a hair cut ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ponies! It's no wonder the children lean on the fence to get closer, they beg to be petted.
ReplyDeleteThey are so adorable...but I just want to crab my scissors and trim their bangs. HaHa.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your comments. The mother is actually quite a lot taller than the foal. (Hard to see in these photos as I did not manage to get one of them both together.) I'm not sure how old the little one is, or whether he'll ever grow into his hair ;)
ReplyDeleteA good sturdy fence to contain those sturdy horses. The darker one sure is a hairy little beast, isn't he? To keep him warm in winter, perhaps?
