Friday My Town: Touch the Sky

Until just the other day, I always thought of the end of the rainbow as always out of reach, and something that you’d never actually get to see, because it would always seem to be going down behind some trees, or disappearing into the open sea… Now, however, I have learned that the rainbow can actually bend like a waterfall over trees and come down on the solid road right in front of you!

So we actually drove right through the rainbow on our way back from the coast on Monday (I’ll write more about that trip in another post). And yet, even after we had driven through, there it still was on the sky in front of us… (Or was it another one?? Looking closely at the photo above, you can actually see two.)

Truly I have never drove through a rainbow. You are blessed. I have fished in the middle of two rainbows eons ago. Just recently we were fishing and the rainbow bowed from one end to the other end of a bay on Lac Court Orrielles near Hayward, Wisconsin. Thanks for sharing what you saw and drove through. Rainbows are amazing. Have fun this coming week-end.

Wow! I've never seen that before. You're going to have some amazing luck.

Sadly it was the same rainbow moving away from you so no pot of gold.

If there was a pot of gold, I suppose it must have been in the ditch beside the road... ;)

It was a sight I never expected to see, so I feel blessed indeed :)

It felt like a good end to a good day, Janet :)

That is impressive, Monica! I've never really seen the end of a rainbow; it's usually behind houses here in town. Maybe in someone's back garden - I should enquire next time :-)

Same here, Meike. Until now I've had the impression it always goes down behind something, and never in front of!

I frequently see rainbows ending between my house and the sea but, as Adrian says, you can never actually get to one.

Graham, it's the first time for me that I've ever seen one actually bending over trees and touch the road. I'm sure we drove through it... ;)
