Sunny Day at the Zoo

Today was a wonderful sunny late summer / early autumn day. Wanting to spend the afternoon outdoors, I decided after lunch to make use one more time of the season pass to the zoo that I bought back in June. This was actually my 4th visit this summer – a personal record, I think! (I’m pretty sure I’ve never been to the zoo more than twice in one year before.)

Each time I’ve had my camera with me, of course – so by now I have lots of zoo pictures.

In this post, I’m choosing a selection from today to confirm that the animals too seemed to be really enjoying the sun:

Beautiful shots! You saw some things at your zoo that I missed (no bears or seals at my zoo).

Your pictures are super cool! The antelope and cheetah are so beautiful! But I think my favorite is this giraffe, with another behind. And the bear is silver! The elephant looks very happy.

These are great pictures, Monica! Please keep going to the zoo and show us more!
The lioness especially is great.

The zoo is only open daily between May and mid September. They'll still be open on weekends until November, but then closed until March, when they start with weekends again. They also occasionally open in the winter school holidays but with limited activity. The bears for example will be in hibernation over winter, as they are in the wild. I'm sure they treat each species according to how well they are able to adjust to the climate.

The Zoo here in BorĂ¥s focuses on African + Scandinavian animals (mostly endangered species).

The bears at the zoo are brown but shift a bit in colour. This one has just been in the water and now making use of the sunshine to get dry again :)

Thanks Meike. As this is the last week the zoo is still open on weekdays, this was probably my last visit this year. But I have a lot more photos that I can make use of in posts to come :)
