Spring Tulips

Most of my walks lately have gone in other directions (or circles!), but today I decided to go and check on the progress of spring in the city centre again.  On a Monday morning there weren't too many people about; but the park is full of lovely tulips, at their very best just now.

I never used to like tulips - too formal. However a few years ago I fell in love with them. This year a couple of my dwarf ones popped up and hav since died but not a single late one has put it's head through the soil yet. I have a feeling things are not going well in my tulipland.

Such great colours, so cheerful! Tulips have been gone here for weeks, our trees are in full green leaves; it was a very intense but rather short spring here in terms of flowers and blossoms. Enjoy it a little longer, Monica!

Graham, I have no experience of growing tulpis myself... I bought myself some weekly bouquets of them before Easter, to cheer myself up while waiting for proper spring to happen outdoors. Now I go for walks and look at the ones in the parks!

Thanks Ginny. It's good to see some colour back in the world after winter!

Meike, I really do appreciate that spring decided to slow down a bit here, so that we get to enjoy it longer!

This week there were tulips in these colours in my local supermarket. I have seen tulips growing in the ground but only when I've been on holidays and only in the cold winter. They are very lovely flowers. A lovely sight in these complicated times.
