Keep Cool / Our World Tuesday

We got thrown into another heat wave this weekend, with temperatures around 30°C. The news reports have kept showing beaches along the coasts with people definitely not keeping proper 'corona' distance. Myself, I haven't been near a beach all summer this year; and the last few days I have been no further than to the old cemetery nearby - < 5 min walk, and the closest place to home that offers a bit of shadow and peace and quiet under huge old trees, a chance to stretch my legs a little without getting too overheated and overtired - and perhaps even some inspiration for the camera to zoom in on whatever happens to be spotlighted along the way.

    1. Yes, I keep reminding myself that there are SO many places around the world where it's much worse (in so many ways)... Not really a very comforting thought, though!

  3. I'm with you, I love beaches but not this year, find me a quiet place where I can be alone.

    1. Yogi, I prefer beaches in the off-season, anyway - as I prefer to just stroll along the water (or sit and watch it) rather rather than jumping into it!

    1. Ginny, I don't know the name of the flower. It's just the seedhead left here, at its prime it's like a fluffy purple ball.

  5. It does look like a good spot to cool down, hope you've got a good book to read.

  6. I took a similar shot of a dandelion this week -something very appealing to the eye about that shape, the ball flower...

  8. Very wise of you, and the photos are all beautiful!
It's been really hot here, too, and still is. I am actually rather good with heat, provided I can get proper sleep at night. That, however, is a little difficult as it does not really cool off at night right now; it hardly went any lower than 20-21 Celsius last night and was up to 36 C during the day, same today.

    1. Meike, I know it's been even hotter further south in Europe. I agree it's worst when it does not even cool off at night. There's too much noise here in the evenings for me to go to sleep with open windows. But the mornings are usually quiet, so if I wake up early (as I inevitably do) I open up then (and go back to sleep)... I've never been very good with heat, but I think I was better able to endure it when I was younger. - It's a bit cooler here today, to my relief. Around 25 rather than 30. So I have been able to get some "work" done at the computer this morning (before the sun hits my study in the afternoon). ("Work" in my case equals things I have to do rather than things I do for fun.)

  9. you could not have found a better place to visit in a heat wave... it even looks cooler. that last shot is just beeautiful and the forest park calls my name. glad you have that a few minutes walk from home. Easy said on their blog that it was 39 C in Paris while they were driving through to Germany and the heat wave was there also. it is world wide i think... good idea to follow the virus rules. we are to

    1. Sandra, I was trying to hypnotize myself by looking for things (views) that made it seem cooler than it was... I know it's been even hotter further south in Europe, though. And elsewhere in the world!
