The clouds gave way to sunshine today, and that seems likely to continue for a while now - so I was inspired to change to my spring/summer curtains in the kitchen again (after 3+ winter months with my redcheckered ones). Long term followers will recognise them...
I also put up these hens (cross-stiched by my mum) on the door between the kitchen and the hall (usually kept open):
Other Easter decorations will have to wait a bit yet; I don't like to put those up too early. But the hens came up as I keep them in the same chest as the curtains and table cloths...
I do like your curtains, they are very spring-ish
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy.
DeleteThis is wonderful and detailed work by your Mom. You know I have always adored these curtains. If I knew where to buy them, I would do so in a flash. They match my kitchen too. I might give another try on Amazon, I know you have had them a long time though.
ReplyDeleteGinny, I searched my blog and found that I got these curtains in September 2012 - to celebrate having got the old windows in my apartment replaced with new (triple-glazed) ones. While I did not remember the year, I'm pretty sure I bought them at my local supermarket. I doubt they'll be on Amazon twelve years later - but what do I know... ;-)
DeleteLovely, delicate curtains - perfect to welcome Spring!
ReplyDeleteThanks Duta.
DeleteYay - Monica has put up her flowery curtains - it's spring!!! :-D
ReplyDeleteYou know how much I like the way you decorate your flat, going with the seasons.
For me, a little Easter decor has already appeared; it's only four weeks to go, and with Christmas, I usually decorate four weeks before the day, too.
Meike, just as I tend to decorate gradually in December, I kind of do the same in spring - starting with changing the kitchen curtains and some table runners etc to more springlike colours, but waiting a bit with Easter eggs and such.
DeleteI always look forward to your changing of the season in your flat. it is amazing to me how much different it looks when you change out curtains and a few items here and there. the curtains in our home have been there since 1989, they need to be washed now but if I do they might just fall a part
ReplyDeleteSandra, I tried washing a pair of bedroom black-out curtains once, that turned out NOT to be a good idea - they did "fall apart" and I had to buy new ones... As for the kitchen curtains (not black-out, and made of cotton), I don't wash them every time I change them, only if it looks/feels like they need it.
