Sunny, frosty, still and dry this morning; so I went for a walk into town and along the river (following the new path that was inaugurated back in December). The low sun this time of year gives a very golden light - and is totally blinding when looking straight towards it! But with the digital camera one can be bold….
(The artsy pictures in the middle were created by using the “heatmap” filter in Picasa. I had in mind to link to ‘Mandarin Monday’… But it turned out they’re on a holiday break. Never mind!)
i love all your golden light. spectacular of everything painted with the gold of the sun.. sun paintings and number 2 is stunning. love it love it
ReplyDeleteThe sun makes such a difference, this otherwise very colourless season :)
DeleteSo beautiful, I love it! Seeing your town in a different light. In the second picture, I love all those tiny little lines that are reflected. I'm thinking it is from the fence above. I just love your effects! The picture with the curved building, did you edit that one or is it the true light? It is beautiful! ALL the others have awesome edits!!
ReplyDeleteAll the photos in this post were "more or less" edited to enhance contrasts and colour, Ginny - using one or more Picasa effects. I don't make notes of each step but try various things back and forth and go by intution.
DeleteThere is something so wonderful about low sun, either in morning or evening. That statue of the man rising out of the water is pretty amazing too! Happy new year to you!
ReplyDeleteEverything tends to look more interesting on a sunny day than on a grey one, Jenny (not least in otherwise rather colourless winter!)
DeleteLovely golden light in these shots.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fi!
DeleteBeautifully golden indeed!
ReplyDeleteWe've had pretty much the same weather yesterday, although somewhat warmer at 6 Celsius, I guess. More of the same today, so I think I'll go out for another walk later. But first, it's time to take down the few Christmas decorations dotted around my flat.
Today we're back to grey, but still chilly - with a few flakes of snow falling in the afternoon.
DeleteWOW! The water really does look like liquid gold!
ReplyDeleteSo that is what "bathed in golden light" means? It really is fabulous light!
