Forget-Me-Not (26.5)

CIMG4293

Four mornings in a row now I’ve been out walking (‘Nordic’ style) around the old cemetery. Yesterday I stopped at this old grave – ‘forgotten’ in the sense of no one actively tending it any more, but still full of lovely forget-me-nots!

Today, 26th May, it’s six years since my mum died; and in a few weeks, it will be four years since my dad joined her. I can’t visit their grave in the village churchyard very often; but it is of course being taken care of (we’re paying for that service as we cannot do it ourselves).

You’re not forgotten.

    1. It is a good photo and I was very glad to receive it from her who took it, after mum's funeral.

  2. Forgotten graves have a special sadness. The photo of your parents on the other hands has quite the opposite.

    1. I agree, Graham. Graveyards always give me mixed feelings of sadness and serenity, but I suppose that's their very purpose. Living so close to this one I have found it a good place these past few years to "walk and think" - remembering both the good stuff and the sad.

    1. Yes Pauline, I feel that although it was taken by someone else and in a place I don't know, it's very much "them".
