What says “calm” better than a windmill standing still? ;)
From Jarina in the Netherlands, February 2018

Looking it up in Wikipedia, I think I manage to deduce from the Dutch text that this mill (built in 1855) was a “polder mill” used for regulation of the water levels.
I love this one! I find these very romantic. Do you have many in Boras or nearby?
ReplyDeleteI can't recall any windmills close to Borås - I think there were more water mills in this area (with water wheels). There are old windmills in other areas in southern Sweden, though. Which reminds me that I still have photos from the trip that my brother and I made back in 2015, that I never got round to blogging about... Including at least one windmill. I'll see if I can find it.
DeleteI hadn't thought of that... you're absolutely right. I love the postcard, I love windmills in general.
ReplyDeleteYes, the old ones are often very picturesque, aren't they?
DeleteVery pretty and very restful.
ReplyDeleteI have only seen wind mills like this in photos and movies. it really is a beautiful sight
ReplyDeleteYou are somright, I never thought of it, but really a windmill standing still is a very "still" picture.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed still & serene! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for thinking of inspiring themes, Maria :)
