White Open Spaces

Today I woke up to a new layer of freshly fallen snow, combined with even colder temperature, but also sunshine. I went out for a walk around noon, to get the most of the light; and (after having fed the nearest letterbox with another pack of Christmas cards) decided to go in search of "white open spaces" (which means walking in the opposite direction than when going into town).

In summer, this is my "butterfly park".
In snowy winter, other things to attract the camera...

A few blocks away, and across a busy road,
there is another park area down by the river:

Finishing off with the football field close to home:

Photos 3, 4, & 5 look like snow flowers! You changed your header! It is lovely.

White open spaces - I like that! You made the most of a beautiful day of clear blue sky; I miss that - it's been grey all week except for Tuesday, when I could not make time during the day for a proper walk.
The thistle heads with their snow caps on look so pretty!
I remember the butterfly park and the area along the river from summer pictures. Always interesting to see a place in a different season.

You certainly found some very photogenic "white open spaces"! The photos with the long afternoon shadows make me shiver! I can imagine how cold it will be once the sun has set.

So much sun, I imagine it's important to get as much of the sun as you can in the day before it's gone.

Meike, the flowers with snow caps are cone flowers (echinacea). We've been having mostly grey weather too (and back to that today). And this time of year, not many hours of sun even on a sunny day, so best make the most of it! ;-)

CG it was around -10 C in the morning, around -5 or so at noon.

Oh, my goodness!
It's forecast for +6ÂșC most mornings next week and we're all wondering how we're going to cope!

CG, here in Sweden we're probably somewhat better prepared for cold weather than you are in the south of Spain...
