While yesterday the trees were black silhouettes against the snow and sky, today I woke up to find everything covered in a fresh layer of white. (It had snowed a bit more over night, and perhaps some frost effect added to that.) At midday I went out for a walk around the old cemetery, where there are lots of big old trees.
I temporarily forgot back on Friday (5th January) - but that day was my 15th Blogoversary! 15 years since the start of my first blog, The Island of the Voices. (Predecessor of this one - because of some technical issues, I found it better to start over two years later.)
I think I've probably been repeating my very first blog post every January since then, but here it is again:
I'm pretty sure that whatever I had in mind back then, I did not see myself keeping it up for as long as fifteen years into the future (and hopefully even beyond). But here I am, still!
it has been a quick 15 years and I created my 1 post in 2008 sept but never used it again until may of 2009, the same year you started. I had no idea what I was doing and you and I have been friends since you created this post. I never thought it would last this long, yours or mine. Many have given up that we were friends with. todays photos are sheer magic. I just love the scenes from the cemetery. Magical they are
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra. And what has kept us both going is no doubt the friendships we've made along the way! :-)
Deleteit all looks so beautiful. I can't imagine having that much snow here, we only get it on the mountains.
ReplyDeleteAmy, the layer of snow on the ground is not deep, but it always looks more impressive when fresh, and with snow on the trees as well... :-)
DeleteHow beautiful the snow makes everything look - a true magical wonderland.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Blogaversary. As a newcomer to your blog, I find you always find something interesting to talk about and your photos are excellent.
Thanks Carol. Blogging for me has combined my interest in writing and photography + given me new friends around the world. Never thought of starting your own? I'm sure those friends you've made through commenting on the blogs of others would love to see a bit of "your world" as well!
DeleteYour northern light really brings out the detail. A wonderful place to walk.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tasker. I walk around, across or along that cemetery almost daily, as it's very close to where I live. Because of the huge old trees it really is a wonderful place to walk all year round, and one gets away from traffic as well.
DeleteCongratulations! I hope you have a great 2024!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, and I wish you the same!
DeleteCongratulations - 15 years of regular blogging, making friends along the way, is great!
ReplyDeleteYour Winter Wonderland looks beautiful. I hope to catch some daylight and snowy fields this afternoon; I arrived last night back in Ludwigsburg to a sleety snow which has remained on the ground at -3C, but it should remain dry from above today, and I don't have appointments in the afternoon so I can come and go as I please. Already sunset at around 4:45 pm is a bit later than a month ago, meaning I will have daylight until at least 5:00.
Thanks Meike. I know you've been blogging since 2009 as well. Not sure if our paths crossed already in the first year, but I think not all that long after - through mutual friends :-)
DeleteCongratulations, indeed. We've been blog friends for almost the whole of that time.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your beautiful, calm snow scenes because it is a scene that I never see here.
Thanks Graham! Your brother's blog was one of the first I happened to start following (after crossing paths with him on a blog called One Minute Writer, no longer existing). I have no real concept any more of how many other blog contacts through the years may also be traced back to him and you - but it's a lot! And I'm even still in touch with some (John included) no longer blogging.
