A Place by the Sea

 (Monday 5 August, cont.)

Although Tjolöholm Castle (previous post) is situated on the coast, while we were there we did not really get a sense of being at the seaside. So before we turned back home, I said I also wanted to go to some place where one did get that feeling.

So we drove on a little bit further south, and found a place called Gårda Brygga ('brygga' is the Swedish word for 'jetty'). Besides a jetty for small boats, it turned out to also offer smooth rocks with a good view towards the open sea, and even a small beach with a small kiosk/café where we could buy something to drink, and sit for a while to absorb that seaside feeling...

  1. Lovely photos. The last ones make it look so isolated, which it is not.

    1. Ginny, yes. It was exactly the kind of view I was after - to feel we'd really been out to the coast!

  3. I could sit on those rocks and look out to the Sea for hours.
You chose a beautiful spot, popular without being too crowded.
I love the tiny beach house (or whatever it is).

    1. Meike, my guess is it serves as office for some kind of guard looking after the place.

  6. Well you certainly get the feeling of being by the sea. What strikes me more than anything, though, is the hege difference between you 'seaside' and ours. Everywhere is flat. Here (on Lewis and Harris) virtually nothing is flat.

    1. We have a long coastline, Graham, and not everywhere looks the same... The southern part of Sweden is indeed generally rather flat, though, and the province of Halland is known for its long sandy beaches. We were still in the northern parts with a bit more rocks though (even if rather flat rocks...)

  7. So glad you found a seaside area that met your need to sit by the ocean and take some photos. These are great!
