Home Sweet Home

On my walk around the old cemetery today, I noticed this birdhouse up in a tree. I only had my phone camera, but did my best to zoom it in with that. I'm pretty sure it must be new, or I think it would have caught my attention before. Whether anyone has moved in yet, I don't know...  (I'd be interested to know how prospective tenants feel about the decorated roof!)

On the ground, I spotted the first primula veris of the season. I do think these flowers deserve a prettier name than the English "cowslip"! In Swedish, we call them gullviva - to with their golden colour.

Home, Sweet Home

It's been another grey and wet week. I don't think the sun has shown its face at all here during the second half of January. This week, on Monday there was wet snow blowing sideways outside my windows, so I did not go out at all. Since then I've been out for short afternoon walks three days in a row, but the only thing to tempt my (phone)camera was this birdfeeder in the cemetery (on Tuesday)... I'm pretty sure it must be new, or surely I'd have noticed it before! Even the birds did not seem to have discovered it yet - unless perhaps they'd already had their lunch, and left.

Birdhouses and Insect hotels

On one of my recent walks around the old cemetery, I focused on spotting man made birdhouses and insect hotels - and also some natural cavities in the big old trees.

Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colours,
He made their tiny wings.
