My sister is particularly fond of ferns, and I like it a lot, too. Some walks we've been on while in Yorkshire we were so surrounded by ferns it was easy to imagine a time when they were the size of trees and made up large parts of the forests. Love it how the photos correspond with the background of your blog's template!
I love them especially at this stage when they are still such a lush fresh green, and not quite unfurled yet, Meike. These grow in a little park here in the neighbourhood.

DeleteOf course in New Zealand the fern - silver fern - is one of the country's emblems. Just to be picky ferns are rarely fragile in my experience!
