“… because of you – thanks!”

Of course every day that brings a happy snail mail card is a happy day!
Postcrossing card from Germany, January 2018
Illustration from a book entitled “Wie der Maulwurf den kleinen Adler rettete” / “How the Mole saved the little Eagle”
Digging a bit deeper, I find that The Mole* is the character in a series of cartoons, created by Czech animator Zdeněk Miler (1921-2011).
*(in the Czech original called Krtek, or, for little mole, Krteček)
Some of the books seem to be available in Swedish as well. Not having children or grandchildren of my own, I have not been keeping up… :)

I love the little Maulwurf! He has been around for a long time; my sister and I have known him since we were little, around 45 years ago.
I always enjoy your cards, except for the snail. You know how I feel about snails don't you, I'm terrified.
i love both of these. a flying mole, soooooo cute
Those postcards are darling. I have pen pals I exchange postcards with which is a lot of fun. There is something special and lasting about snail mail isn't there?
How The Mole Saved The Eagle looks like a great children's book. I will check it out on Amazon. Today I think MY card is my favorite! Sorry no cards for awhile, I have been on antibiotics...better now!
I learnt who Krtek is thanks to postcards, too. I think the Mole wasn't very famous in my country. Or, at least, I don't recall him.
Both postcards are very happy!
Meike, if he was on TV here it was probably when I was already "a big girl" ;)
Sorry Janet, I did not know! I think this one is probably quite friendly, though - and not slimy :)
Flying moles are probably even more rare than flying pigs! :)
Terra, as much as I enjoy the fast communication of the internet, there is indeed still something special about a "real" postcard.
Hope you'll feel better soon, Ginny. February has been rather icy and snowy here, and even when I feel inspired to write cards, there might be a delay before I get out to post them...
Eva, I don't think the Mole was/is among the most famous cartoons here in Sweden either. More so in Germany, and certain other countries. That's one of the things I find fascinating about post crossing... One learns a lot of random things that one might otherwise never have come across :)
I remember Mole from television in the seventies in the Netherlands, and I loved him. He had a kind of revival some years ago: some movies were shown again on television, and a (cheap, affordable) dvd box was issued by a national newspaper. Still love it!
And I love the upper card! I like snails. Not really when they eat all my vegetables - but in general I like them as they not only belong to the ecosystem, they also are a mascotte for 'snail mail'. And I love to draw friendly mail delivering snail mail snails :-)
Hello Monica, these are delightful postcards! I specially like the second one. I didn't realize it isn't an actual eagle until I read your write-up about it. How cool! Thank you very much for sharing!
