British Beach Life in 1971 (Sepia Saturday)

The 'Sepia Saturday' theme image for this week (see link below) made me think of another couple of photos from my own photo albums from our family holidays in Britain back in the 1970s. These are from the pleasure pier and beach at Whitley Bay in 1971 (seaside town on the north east coast of England). I may have used them before in blog context, but I think they are worth showing again...

Nice photos showing 1970s; nuns and a sign that says girls, interesting juxtaposition.

Indeed.

I wonder what the nuns were thinking - especially the one with her hands on her hips.

Great photos to link to our Sepia theme. Nuns in full habits used to be a common sight in American cities, but I think they are less frequently seen now, perhaps because their uniform fashion is less medieval.

Nice link to the prompt. Looks like you had a neat place to have fun on your vacation to England. Gosh, I haven't been to the ocean in ages now that I live in the mountains. But I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area & our family frequently had picnics at various ocean beaches. BTW, my great-grandmother came from Norrkoping, Sweden.
