This year, we had an absolutely lovely day for spring celebrations - even if capricious Nature then chose to start the month of May with a backlash to cold showers again (even including frost and snow today, brrr!)
Today, through my window...
Yep, the white stuff is snow!!
Yep, the white stuff is snow!!
But on Tuesday, we were still in a magic spell of early summer...
I went into town in the afternoon to a music school violin orchestra concert in the old church. After that, a stroll around town and in the park; and an ice cream enjoyed on a park bench in the sunshine. And then another session of music + traditional spring songs sung acappella by a men's choir in the square.
Photos taken with my phone:
I also recorded one of the songs sung by the choir. I was hoping to be able to upload the video here too but that did not go as planned... (Maybe I have to do it via YouTube. I'll give it a try another day.)
What a charming town to walk around in. Beauty everywhere. And I bet there is NO crime there, you can walk around safely. Do you know the population of Boras? I think your first picture is my favorite. The snowy grounds framing your beautiful flower. A promise that though there is bad weather, spring will be there, and beautifully.
ReplyDeleteGinny, the population of Borås is around 110.000 and growing. I'm afraid you're way too optimistic about the crime rate - even if the city centre in broad daylight usually feels safe enough.
DeleteI love that building behind the band in the red shirts and the tulips are wonderful. the trees are amazing. from snow to summer over night. YAY SUMMER. looks like there are many enjoying the sunshine and music.
ReplyDeleteSandra, the building is the Court House, built in 1910.
DeleteBeautiful. I hope the snow didn't damage any of the blooms. That would have been a shame. We had some wet snow Sunday but our blooms weren't as well along as yours are. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteBookworm, the little snow that fell here yesterday had melted away again this morning and I don't think it did too much damage. At least tulips and such seem to be still standing (not sure about the cherry blossom trees as I've not been back to see those since the 30th - but their blooming season is usually short anyway...)
DeleteHappy spring to you! Beautiful blue skies and I like the trees in bloom and the tulips. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks SPP!
Deletebeautiful bloom
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteSo lovely with all those flowering trees in the sunshine! We were similarl lucky with the weather for May Day and the day before, when the maypole was put up and we were setting up ecerything for the village fete. Today, it is cold, wet and windy; no snow in our area, but it is forecast to come down as low as 500 m. We are very likely to meet some along the way when we'll be driving to South Tyrolia tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteWish you a safe journey, Meike!
DeleteI love the blossom - but then who could not? I'm afraid the start of Spring went unnoticed here.
