Stop and Smell the Roses

Photos from the rose garden in the town park (last week).

“Take time to smell the roses.” – Proverb

“The world is a rose, smell it, and pass it to your friends.” – Persian Proverb

“Those who don’t pick roses in summer won’t pick them in winter either.” – German Proverb

“The rose is a rose from the time it is a seed to the time it dies. Within it, at all times, it contains its whole potential. It seems to be constantly in the process of change: Yet at each state, at each moment, it is perfectly all right as it is.” – Paulo Coelho

  2. What a beautiful variety of colors you captured; they would make a pretty bouquet. But not to be picked of course. I like the Coelho rose quote.

  3. Every year it amazes me for how long some roses are in bloom, while others change to rosehips quite early. The ones you have captured are all very beautiful, and I hope their scent is, too!
The German proverb is completely unknown to me, but of course I can't know each and every proverb in my language.

    1. Meike, I have to confess to copying all four from a quotation website without any attempt to further investigate their authenticity :)

  4. These are all absolutely gorgeous I'm going to pick the yellow one as my favorite but only because I love yellow flowers because they seem to be the color of joy. They're all stunning

  5. What lovely rose gardens. Some look to be older varieties that might have a scent. I'm always disappointed when I see a lovely rose and it has no perfume.

    1. Pauline, in spite of the header, I did not literally put my nose in every rose, but mostly used the camera zoom to get close... ;)

  6. That garden looks beautiful. I only started growing roses a few years ago in containers because the soil in my garden is not very suitable. In containers I can control the soil and their position so that they gat sun and as little wind as possible.

    1. Sounds like a good idea, Graham. Having no garden, I've never grown any roses myself - only enjoyed those planted and cared for by others!
