I went for a walk to the park downtown, and discovered that they'd filled the flower beds there with pansies and hyacints.
The seagulls arrived inland from the coast just before Easter... Always a sign of spring here!
Daffodils are in bloom...
... and I found some Tussilago (or Coltsfoot) too.
Too early for Spring here really. There are still the occasional morning frosts (unusual in my garden but more common inland) and bitterly cold winds to nip out the early plant tips and buds.
ReplyDeleteGraham, nights are still rather cold here too (not sure about frosty) and even with the sun warming things up in the daytime, the winds can still feel chilly.
DeleteBright yellow splashes of Spring yellow to gladden the heart.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully capricious mural on that building.
JC, yes, that mural is one of my favourites :)
DeleteThe mural is very clever! So, Coltsfoot looks just like dandelions. I like how they have some of the flower beds fenced off, they are effective, yet you can still see through them well.
ReplyDeleteGinny, the coltsfoot are quite a bit smaller than dandelions, but that's of course hard to tell from this photo!
DeleteI especially like your photo of the seagull with the rippling water and the shadows in front of him.
ReplyDeleteThanks Terra. They can be a nuisance sometimes and make a lot of noise - but I still always like it when they arrive, because it's a sign of spring!
DeleteThat is for sure an amazing mural I love what they did with putting her in a tree and it looks like she's actually sitting in the trees that grow in front of the mural great shot. Your other photos are beautiful and do look like spring has sprung
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra. Yes, Iove that mural too, and it sort of changes with the seasons - the trees below it bare in winter, then turning green, and then to autumn colours...
DeleteThe mural is beautiful, and so are the spring flowers. Here, spring is fast progressing. Most of the daffodils are past it, as are the magnolias. Tulips are just now coming into their own.
ReplyDeleteThe ground around the pansy flower bed looks rather dry, considering that you did get snow and rain not long ago.
As always you're way ahead of us with spring, Meike :) I've not sen any trees in bloom here yet. The ground is indeed dry now and no doubt new plants (like those flowerbeds in the park) will need frequent watering to begin with. Not much rain forecasted for this week, I think.
DeleteLove the mural - it's so clever and not something you can miss! It looks as though you'll have to wait a few days to enjoy the spring flowers at their best.
ReplyDeleteCarol, it looks like we're in for a sunny week, so things may be happening fast. Nights still rather chilly, though, and there may be backlashes yet.
