The Sun made an appearance today, for the first time in I'm-not-sure-how-long, and I extended my walk down to the riverside, hoping to catch a couple of reflection photos.
* * *
After that, I walked back via the cemetery, where earlier in the week I had noted the sudden appearance of an unusual birdfeeder ...
... and then, yesterday, the disappearance of the same!
It was still gone today (just a hole in the ground to show where it was), and I could not find that it had been put up somewhere else instead. So for now I'm left with guesses, like: Was putting it up in the first place perhaps "unauthorised" - as in not approved by those in charge of the place? Did someone object to the bright red colour? Or did it just not work as intended, or in that particular spot?? Or did a random passer-by fall in love with it and decided it would look better in their own garden??? ...
Unless it turns up again in some other spot, I guess I shall never know!!!
Meanwhile, here is another bird feeder in the cemetery. This one has been there for years, is still standing - and seems to be well looked after, and "doing its job".
Oh, I hope it has not been purloined. That would be very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame. It was such a welcoming, bright installation.
ReplyDeleteAll of your thoughts of solving this are so good!! If someone wanted to steal it, I wonder how hard it would have been to remove? Keep us posted! Maybe something will turn up!
ReplyDeleteGinny, not physically hard - but not easy for a "member of the public" to get away with in the daytime... The place where it was is also quite close to the cemetery staff's building. But on the other hand - also close to a parking space, if someone did steal it in the night... ;-)
DeleteThe bird feeder in the cemetery looks unique too
ReplyDeleteA mystery indeed! The Case of the Missing Bird House, starting amatheur detective Monica T., who lives quietly in the Swedish town of B., but solves mysteries by her acute observational skills.
ReplyDeleteMeike - Alas, unlike Miss Marple I don't live in a small village where everyone knows everyone... ;-)
Deletethe mystery would drive my curoios self crazy. wow, so many choices on what could have happened. The Case of The Purloined Birdhouse. ha ha what a story
ReplyDeleteSandra, it does tickle the imagination! ;-)
DeleteOh, that's a pity, it was so cheerful. If it has been stolen, maybe someone noticed the thief - the feeder would be difficult to hide under a coat!
ReplyDeleteCarol, definitely no typical "pickpocket" job... ;-)
DeleteDefinitely not!
