Summer in Blue

Blue Iris (Iris spuria, in English also known as Blue Flag).

Blue and purple also seem to be a dominant colours in the public flower beds that have just been "updated" in the cemetery:

Not sure what this flower is, and neither is Google Image search. (They just threw all kinds of very different blue flowers at me when I uploaded this photo!)

Today, I noticed that a strange wooden "cross" structure had been added. Not sure what to make of it... I suppose time will tell if some plant is supposed to climb up on it!

Yesterday was rainy, and as it was also laundry day for me, I stayed in. Today a mix of clouds with the sun breaking through, but still rather chilly winds. The forecast is that we'll probably see a bit more summery weather over the weekend, but the higher temperatures won't be lasting long, and we'll be back below 20'C again next week.

Azure Skies

Woke up to the lawns outside covered by a thin layer of snow this morning - but that soon disappeared as the day turned out sunny. Good to see a clear blue sky reflected in the river again, after a grey and rainy week.

I asked Bing Copilot for a positive poem about the colour blue, and got this:

**Azure Skies**

Beneath azure skies, dreams take flight,
A canvas of hope, bathed in pure light.
Ocean waves whisper secrets untold,
Bluebells dance, their petals unfold.

In twilight's embrace, stars softly gleam,
Bluebirds sing melodies, a celestial theme.
Blue, the hue of serenity and grace,
A tranquil refuge in life's bustling race.

So let us embrace this calming hue,
In every shade of cerulean and true.
For in blue's embrace, we find our way,
Guided by its gentle touch each day.
Then I got curious to know more about AI's creative process...
Did you know they actually write by hand?? ;-)

Blue Monday: Sometimes I Wish…

CIMG6463-001

Sometimes I wish The House (my parents’ old place, which we are preparing to sell) were just a very small cottage like this… That’s only a fleeting daydream, though. I know even a summer cottage this size would require more work and care than I’m really able/willing to put in. I was just enchanted by it when I passed by. :)

(This whole cottage would probably fit into the living room in The House.)

Macro Monday

CIMG5317-001

I don’t know/don’t remember the name of these blue flowers. They grow in a flowerbed in a park. I took the photo on one of my walks “in between rain showers” this Midsummer weekend.

Macro Monday: Blue Flowers in Rain and Frost

CIMG5290-1

Yesterday I went for a walk in the rain and found these blue flowers still in bloom in the park. Quite a colour shock against the yellowing leaves in the background.

I was surprised to see that they had managed to survive the frosty nights we had earlier in the month:

The frosty pictures were taken on 21 Oct, the rainy ones 30 Oct.

Macro Monday: Spider’s Web

CIMG4338-1

“Experience is never limited, and it is never complete; it is an immense sensibility, a kind of huge spider-web of the finest silken threads suspended in the chamber of consciousness, and catching every air-borne particle in its tissue.”
