Scanning through recent photos for the colour red (for Friday My Town), these are what I came up with – from a short walk last weekend.
Actually what caught my eye in the playground was not really the locomotive (I’ve seen it before!), but the hopscotch course drawn in the sand. I’m not sure I’ve seen one of those since back in my own childhood!
And a rose, of course, “is a rose is a rose is a rose”…1
even if it might smell as sweet by any other name.2
(It’s “ros” in Swedish too, though.)

the odd thing is, bob just said to me last week, when is the last time you saw a hop scotch in the sand or on a sidewalk... we could not remember when and here one is. we thought the kids did not know about it now.
So, when you looked down at the hopscotch course, did you wonder if your feet were ever that small to fit in the squares. That's what I think when I come across them. As a kid, I thought it was a looooong jump to the third square. Maybe they were just bigger when I was a kid a million eons ago.

Sandra, what a funny coincidence that you so recently discussed it!
Susie, my feet might have fit in this one I think, but when it comes to hopping on one leg,
(or even two) that's a different matter... Recent knee-problems considered, I would not dare try!
...And it is "Rose" in German, too, as you of course know :-)
