I have not yet seen the film, but I couldn’t resist buying myself the screenplay book as Christmas present. Having read the manuscript to Harry Potter and The Cursed Child (the stage play) before, I did not doubt that Rowling would manage to make a film script readable as well. What can I say? I was right in my assumption, of course… So I have just spent two afternoons apparating myself away from the dull winter weather outside my windows, to New York in 1926, where strange and mysterious events are taking place. In true J.K.R. magic style, it is a breathtaking mix of wonderful, funny, compassionate and gruesome – not really allowing us to “escape” at all; but rather inviting us to see the unseen…
The clever design of the cover art and black & white illustrations inside enhances the reading experience. They hint at the shape of things but at the same time leave much to your imagination.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the filmmakers made of it – but I shall probably wait another couple of months, until it’s released on DVD.

I didn't know this book had illustrations! The movie was in our theater right before Christmas. Anne Marie wanted to see it, and I was going to take her, but things did not work out. Maybe I will buy the DVD for us to watch. WHEN it ever comes out!
Release date for the DVD is 27 mar 2017 according to websites I've checked.
I really must live under a rock. I had no idea a person could buy a screen play like this. have never seen one or heard of one until now. thanks for educating mea little more under my rock
I'm looking forward to the movie, it's on my Netflix list.
O.K. and I watchted the movie last year and both liked it. He is not quite as much a Harry Potter fan as I, and therefore didn't get all the references and hints, but it was still an enjoyable film to him.
Good to know the release date for the DVD is so close to my birthday :-D
I've never come across a screenplay in bookform before either. I guess it's because it turned out a success with the Cursed Child stageplay (which was published for all the fans around the world who can't go to London to see the live performance). As long as there are people willing to buy... :)
I might be able to see it on Netflix too. But I think I want to Own this one... :)
Yes, since this movie takes place BHP (before Harry Potter) I think you can probably enjoy it without already being a HP fan :)
