  1. These two postcards are fabulous, each in its own way. I would like to buy some postcards by these talented painters.

    1. Terra, I suppose they must be available online from somewhere, somehow, if one is determined enough... :)

  2. The first one is awesome, and I love everything about it...the shadow of the lady cat in the window, the lights of the distant house, and the graffiti on the fence on the wall. The freedom one has a certain beauty AND freedom. But my idea of freedom is not standing in huge waves on a windy day all dressed for church! Even hats! I guess the idea is you can do whatever you want.

    1. Ginny, with art as well as with literature, I think you do need to keep in mind the time when it was created...

  3. The waves look so realistic, I can almost hear them splash and crash, and smell the salty sea air. But I think the lady is not feeling quite as free as the man at her side, what with clutching her hat. Still, must be love if she has followed him out there, dressed as she is!

    1. Meike, I understand the original is a very large painting, 179x284 cm. Must be really impressive to see it "live" (as the friend who sent it did, at an exhibition).

  4. The meaning in both pictures is so well portrayed although joy springs into my mind as well.

    1. Absolutely, Graham. Both these pictures could easily fit more than one theme :)

  6. Hi DawnTreader, Sure enjoyed these cards for the Love theme! On the second card I think you are so right, in an earlier comment, to consider the time of publication. I find it fascinating the way people dressed back in the early 1900s! Thank you for sharing!

    1. John, I'm rather fascinated by that whole time period, around the beginning of the previous century. So different in some ways and at yet at the same time in so many ways not unlike our own times.

  7. Belated happy Valentine's Monica! Oh wow, I apologize for missing this one -- I was overseas and commenting on participant's entries through my mobile phone. I guess not all comments went through!

I love both cards but the second one a bit more as it looks like love defying strong odds. :)
