Christmas Along the Street

Unlike yesterday (which was grey and foggy), today offered a bit of sunshine again. To make the most of the daylight, I went out for a walk around noon. Although I had not really intended to go all the way into town, my camera seemed to have persuaded my feet to take me there anyway. ("I know you don't need anything," the camera said, "but can't we just go and have a peek at the Christmas market anyway?" So we did.)

Besides the few market stalls along the square, this weekend there was an extended Christmas market along one side of a long pedestrian street stretching all the way (several blocks) from the square to the Textile Fashion Center and College. Rather clever really, as that keeps people moving on rather than causing too much crowding.

    1. Yes it was good weather for a walk. I hope they made good sales too, but I'm afraid I did nothing to help...

    1. No, nothing. I've posted my Christmas cards and presents, I've ordered my food with home delivery, and I have all the clothes that I need...

    1. Terra, I was only "windowshopping" (if one can use that word when there weren't even any windows...)

  4. Those blue skies are so good for the soul! We have had mostly a grey solid lid above our heads in December. It did not stop me from walking, but whenever I managed to grab a few sunrays and see some blue sky, I realised how much I miss that when it's all grey.

    1. Meike, it's been very mixed weather here but I usually try to take advantage of the sunny winter days when I can, to be out a bit longer.

  6. It's strange to see such quiet streets at a Christmas Market, but probably just as well in these uncertain times. We're used to seeing crowds enjoying themselves.

    1. CG, you'd probably say the same about a "normal" market here, compared to what you're used to in southern Europe... ;)
