Photos from Karlstad Cathedral, which I visited back in the summer.
I'm lighting "mental candles" today:
One for a close friend whom I had the privilege to know for nearly half a century (47+ years), but who passed away this weekend. (Also thinking of those she leaves behind - husband, sisters, friends...)
And one for another friend whom I've known as long; having cancer surgery today.
I'm so sorry!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny ♥
DeleteI am sorry to read this. A sad time for you.
ReplyDeleteJC - As always, hard to grasp when an old friend "slips out of Time"...
DeleteCandles and the lighting thereof can have a very great significance even to those who are not religious.
ReplyDeleteYes Graham, there does indeed seem to be a universal symbolism in it.
DeleteLosing a close friend is hard. I am sorry, Monica.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, all goes well with your other friend's cancer surgery.
The tree-shaped candle stand is beautiful.
Thanks Meike - and I know you speak from recent experience. At least the friend who had surgery y-day was able to check FB and press a "like" or two in the evening; which I take as a good sign!
ReplyDeletePrayers for the family left behind and for the friend that's having surgery today. And for you when your heart hurts for loss of a friend. That window is beautiful I like it because it's plain and simple and different
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra. I chose the photos from Karlstad for this post because that's where I got to know both of these friends, once upon a time.
DeleteThanks Carol. Hoping for the best!
ReplyDeletePrayers for everyone that needs them, I both light candles and incense.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy. I use neither incense nor scented candles myself, as I have asthma and am sensitive to perfumes (and smoke). (Only buy unscented cleaning and skin care products etc as well.)
